Even though we don’t push Irene Lake as a walleye lake, it does produce nice walleye.

These trophies are normal for Irene Lake but you just don’t catch a lot of walleye.  It is a clear water lake with trout and bass as well as northern pike.  The walleye are there but can be fussy sometimes.  The catching of ...read more.

Posted by on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 5:46 am

The 4th of July is known for fireworks in the USA.  Being a little north of the border in Ignace, we had had to settle for a different type of fireworks.

Karen captured a rainbow and a spark show in the same frame.

Irene 2010 002

Irene Lake is known as “Extra Large Walleye Lake” for a reason.  We don’t see lots of Walleye on Irene Lake but the ones you do get are extra large.

Nice fish, nice scenery but I’m not sure sure about the rest of the photo.  Thanks for the picture Joe.  See you again soon.

During the opening ceremonies for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, NBC broadcast a short feature about the relationship between Canada and the USA. Karen and I were mostly watching the Canadian network coverage but just happened to be checking what the US networks were broadcasting when we saw this. It took a while to find it on line. 2010 is our 25th season at Ignace Outposts

Posted by on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:09 am

You’ll hear this often over the next year. We are excited to be in our 25th season. Looking back we were just pups when we came to Ignace. We came with two small children and one in the oven, a big dog, lots of ambition and no idea that we’d still be enjoying this a quarter century later. Karen agreed ...read more.

Our season is over for 2009.  We have not been idle however.  We are already working on 2010.  2010 will be our 25th year running this fine fishing and hunting business.  We are looking forward to this milestone.   Many look to 25 years to retire but we are having too much fun.

Over the last few weeks I’ve been in ...read more.
