Not a bad double header

Posted by on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 6:52 am

Joey, our dock hand this summer, found a few moments to fish with his wife this past week. Without revealing his “super secret spot” (locals are like that), here is a glimpse of a double header they caught. Our pilot Rob took the picture and verifies the awesome fish.

All I can say is that Ignace is the more.

A step back in Time

Posted by on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 7:17 am

I’ve been asked several times to post about some of the history of Ignace Airways and Ignace Outposts.  Here is one of hopefully many trips down memory lane.

When we arrived in Ignace 24 years ago, we were not only welcomed by some the best fishing in the country but we also inherited an unique piece of history.  This more.

Winter is upon us

Posted by on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 8:37 am

This morning my call is “the lake is frozen.” Winter is here. Nov 12 is about a week late for our ice in, but we have also seen ice coming and going in the fall up to late Nov. There are little patches of water still open but not enough this morning to find a path across the lake. more.

Life in the bush

Posted by on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 1:53 pm

About a week ago while pruning my Mock Orange bush, I discovered a nest right under my bedroom window. A quick peak inside the nest revealed at least two tiny fuzzy chicks. I set about capturing the development of the chicks from my bedroom window. Here are some of the images caught in the past few days.

Mamma on more.

Why not Ignace Outposts?

Posted by on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 7:52 pm

Walleye and northern are featured in each of our lakes except Gamble Lake where the smallmouth fishing is world class. Some other lakes boast lake trout and smallmouth bass too! Essentially we have some of the best remote fishing in Canada suited to walleye, northern, lake trout or smallmouth fishermen. Our camps feature deluxe accommodations with running hot and more.

New Trueisms

I would like to thank one of our guests and readers for sending me these new trueisms of modern life.

1. Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright, until you hear them speak.

2. A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well.

3. He, who laughs more.

What happened to Spring?

Posted by on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 1:44 pm

Just when we thought spring was well on the way we woke up today (Sat April 26) to a major winter storm. Some areas in Northwestern Ontario have received over 30 cm (1 foot) of snow over the last 24 hours. In Ignace we ended up with mostly freezing rain and now it is snowing and drifting. With temps more.
