September Walleye

The amazing thing about fishing in our area is that not only is the fishing great but the catching is awesome too.

Neil and I managed a few hours on the lake between fall close-up jobs.  No sense in being on one of the best walleye lakes in the country and not inviting a more.

More than just fish

As great as fresh fish is to eat,  The options while at an Ignace Outpost camp are varied.  Why not a little tenderloin?

We have BBQs at all our camps for just an occasion.  Maybe open a bottle wine or other beverage to go with it.  How about walleye appetizers?

It leaves more.

Metionga Caribou

Metionga Lake has caribou too.  Bob Donnelly took this picture last week on Metionga of a bull caribou leaving the water after swimming across from an island.

Met Caribou

Their antlers grow quickly considering this growth has happened this summer only.  Like moose caribou drop their antlers each year.  Unlike other ungulates, the cow caribou also grow antlers.

Our more.

Early morning flight

Some days through the summer we have an early start.  Last Saturday was one of those days.  Alone in the aircraft heading out to pick up a group of anglers from one of our lakes, the air was still, the airwaves were quiet and the view was fantastic.

The woodland caribou is a majestic animal whose southern most range includes Seseganaga Lake. Many of our guests enjoy seeing these rare animals. Sometimes they will stick around for a photo op.

My dad took this picture of a young bull caribou in the yard of our Seseganaga West Bay cabin last week. more.
