South of the Canada/US border, our American friends are gathering for a Thanksgiving Dinner.

Today, Oct 12, is Thanksgiving Day in Canada.  For my friends south of the border, yes we have Thanksgiving too. And ours is not only earlier in the year, but Thanksgiving was celebrated in Canada over 40 years before the Pilgrims even arrived at Plymouth Rock.

30th

July 14, 1979.   30 years ago today we got “hitched”.  This picture was taken on our wedding day, on our honeymoon, on an island, on Lake Superior.  We were married in the morning, had an afternoon reception and sailed away into our future on a sailboat.

“…breaking up is hard to do…”

Not with the right equipment. 

The old shed /moose cooler/shower room/catchall storage is no more. 

In the middle of our yard sat an ugly old building which served many useful purposes and an useful life since 1958.  We’ve had the building removed and a new garage will be soon in its place.

Irene Lake bass

In the spring, small mouth bass start heading to the reefs to spawn.  They really start to get aggressive late May and early June. 

Even when water is cold and they are not at their best, they give up a great fight.
