Create Memories

I can’t help but think that sometimes we encourage the wrong things in our kids and grandkids. They will not remember the best score on a video game nor the best day they had watching TV. But take them fishing…

It may be cold now, but summer is coming. Time to think fishing.

Sam's Nothern

Sam fishes with her dad and brother Cole (yesterday’s post).  She holds her own, not only as the only girl in a group of fathers and sons (often up to 20 of them) but also in the fishing department.

This is not her first rodeo and definitely not her last. more.

Father and Daughter

We see many fathers bring their sons fishing.  We also see fathers bring their daughters.  In fact we also see sons and daughters bring their fathers.

Last week on Metionga Lake Rick and his daughter Marie enjoyed some quality time together.  Rick has been fishing with us for many years and this year the group expanded to 8 with Marie filling more.

Catch photo and release

Andy Filer had  boat partners on Seseganaga Lake last week during a family trip that kept him busy with the net and camera.

Not sure if Dad or Phil sent these yet, so here’s a few …the big walleye was 27 ½” and the northern was 37” (caught on a jig)…both were released more.

Happy Birthday Ma!

Posted by on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 1:05 pm

Today is my mother’s birthday. I guess I shouldn’t say how old.

She may not swing a hammer like she used to but even I must admit she is rather active and spry for three quarters of a century… oops.

Happy Birthday Ma! more.

On Thurs evening Karen and I managed to escape to Flindt Lake with my cousin Bill and his wife Dawn from Las Vegas.  Bill and Dawn were in the area to visit Bill’s dad and to attend Bill Sr.’s 80th birthday party.

Of course, a walleye fish fry was in order and in short order a few walleye were made more.
