Seseganaga August fishing

Posted by Brad Greaves on Friday, August 15, 2008 at 8:07 am

A week on Seseganaga Lake in August can produce some nice results. We’ve dealt with high water, bad weather and bugs this summer but it has been worth it when the fishing has been “on”.

Craig Sherven added several more photos to his bragging wall with some of these fish. One of these fish would make a trip ...read more.

“Bigger than my brother!”

Posted by Brad Greaves on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 8:25 am

Lane Krenzen returned from a fly in trip with a huge smile bragging of a fish “Bigger than my brother!” An inch or two more and it would have been bigger than Lane too.

The northern was 42 inches long and put up quite a battle. Maybe next time he will hold it himself. The rule around here is ...read more.

Posted by Brad Greaves on Monday, August 4, 2008 at 8:38 am

Nick Transue and a “hammer handle” northern. Lots of these in the lakes.

Wesley Transue with a typical Irene Lake trout. Lots of these too!

A little persistence pays off. The smile says it all.

Good reason not to skinny dip

Posted by Brad Greaves on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 8:23 am

Larry Schroedle of the Olson crew on Seseganaga Lake captured the largest northern last week with this 49 incher. (easily over 30 lbs)

I’ve heard that many guys take the opportunity to jump in the lake while on their trips to the wilderness; often wearing nothing more than a birthday suit. After seeing fish like this I would think skinny ...read more.

Posted by Brad Greaves on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 12:05 pm

Many folks shy away from July fishing figuring they can do better in June or Sept. Bob Olson and his crew from Chicago have been coming to Seseganaga Lake every July for over a decade. They can attest that not only is the weather generally more stable and bugs less, the fishing is nothing short of phenomenal.

The third week ...read more.
